And this is why. Crapstats database is a piece of shit. And since the database is a piece of shit, the stats system I spent countless hours developing is useless. So, I am in the process of developing a new IRC bot system, code named VAUGHN. You will see this in your channel from time to time as I test its stability and strength. VAUGHN utilizes optimized code, coded by yours truly, as well as the incredibly powerful MS SQL 2005 Database system.

Having said that, VAUGHN will most likely take over Crapstats role on Justin.tv, but never fear, Crapstats will continue to be available as an invite only bot for those die hard Crapstats fans. Although, I'm not going to lie, you guys are probably going to rather have VAUGHN in your channel than Crapstats. It's going to be that good.

I have just released a number of fixes for Crapstats. The first thing I fixed is the !topic tool, it now behaves as it should. The second thing I fixed is the 403 not authorized errors some of you get, even though you are authorized. The reason you would get that error is because Crapstats didn't fully process the names list provided by the Justin.tv server. So, hopefully this fix takes care of that issue. I also did a number of other fixes regarding channel owner tools. Some of the channel owners were getting 403 not authorized errors trying to enable or disable certain features in their own channel. This too has been fixed.

For those that are wondering where the channel stats went, I've had to turn them off for the time being. Why? Because as it turns out, a second box (computer) is required to process the incoming data to generate channel statistics data. If I put the stats database and Crapstats on the same box, Crapstats develops a lag in his response time in the chatrooms. So, until I can get enough money to build a new box for the stats data, the channel statistics are going to have to be disabled for the time being. I really hate doing this, but I don't have much of a choice. I can enable the stats logging, but it will cause Crapstats to have horrible lag in his response time, and that's not acceptable.

I am currently working on a set of new features for Crapstats. I won't disclose them just yet, however, here is a list of what I just added:

Also, Channel Rankings will be reset soon. I have decided to make it where the Channel Rankings are reset at the end of each month, but will show who were the top 10 broadcasters of the previous month. This will help keep it a more fair competition.

And one more thing, the Crapstats.com website may go down for a bit while I change servers. Crapstats himself will not be affected by this, as he is not on the same box as the website.

Over the past few days, I've made some changes to Crapstats. You can now vote for your favorite broadcaster within the Justin.tv chat! All you have to do is type !thumbsup or !thumbsdown.

As for the stats logging, I've had to disable it lately because the one box Crapstats is on just can't handle the amount of data needed to be processed. the MySQL database goes crazy and spikes 94% cpu usage. So what I did, was setup a second box (aka my main computer) with a mysql server. That worked perfect for about 20 minutes, then for some reason it crashes! The error log on Crapstats says that the connection has been blocked by that mysql server, which eventually crashes Crapstats trying to get a connection.

The weird part is, both boxes are AMD64 3200+'s, both mysql servers are configured exactly the same, yet the mysql server on my main computer puts the brakes on and blocks the Crapstats connection. So tonight, my project is figuring out why this is happening. I might end up dumping mysql altogether and going for the best of the best, aka MS SQL 2005. We'll see.

And also, once I get this stats database issue figured out, stats will be updated more frequently. I have written an update tool that will allow for faster updates. Essentially what it does now, is replicates the Crapstats stats tables that are on the Crapstats box and puts them onto the Crapstats.com server for processing. I've coded the new stats updater to do most of the processing on the Crapstats box, making it faster and less of a load on Crapstats.com

For those that are wondering about the ChipIn to the left titled "Crapstats Justin.tv Service", it is only to support Crapstats upkeep on Justin.tv since Justin.tv does not pay me to run Crapstats on it (Justin.tv is where I created Crapstats for fun, so naturally it's of no charge to Justin.tv).

There are some bugs on the JTV Crapstats, I'm slowly pounding those out when I have time.

I have recently launched the Crapstats v2.6 Beta on Justin.tv, it appears that this build has solved the lag issues v2.5.4.9 had. It has crashed a few times due to some MySQL errors, but I have applied a fix to v2.6 beta this morning that should take care of those errors.

In v2.6 beta, a couple of things have been fixed. The moderator tools no longer give you an unauthorized error if you are a mod and tried to use a mod tool on Crapstats for the first time (the second time trying would gain you access, cause Crapstats would have gathered the data from the server saying you were a mod). That is no longer an issue at all. I have also added a !totalchatters command that shows how many chatters are in the channels Crapstats is in (essentially every channel on the server) and I have made it where you can type !seen and it will show how many users are in the !seen database, so that's kind of cool. I have also fixed the !info command to show an accurate count of how many channels Crapstats is in. Before it would combine previous sessions of channels and end up with some crazy large ass number.

As for Ustream.Tv, Crapstats is getting closer to being launched on there.

Also, as for the !lastfm command, I am going to do some testing on it to see how v2.6 beta handles it. The command would crash v2.5.4.9, but since v2.6 beta is a total rebuild, it may work without consequence.

Alright, I have a big announcement to make regarding Crapstats, but I'm not going to make it until everything is final and in place. But it's something I am very excited about.

Anyway, enough of that crap, I'm currently developing a "Crapstats - Network Version" client. It's a total rebuild of the TCP/IP code and everything packed nice and neat into a single class. Doing this has proved to improve performance of Crapstats, so if you didn't think Crapstats could perform any better, think again.

This version of Crapstats is going to be used in my big announcement. I would tell you what that big announcement is, but I'm going to make you suffer until it's all setup.

Oh and, yes, Crapstats is coming to Efnet.

While Bill works on the JTV chat servers, Crapstats will most likely go down. I won't be back until later tonight, so if Crapstats doesn't reconnect, Crapstats will be down because of my sucky auto reconnect function.

A release of several bug fixes in Crapstats is coming this weekend, one to address the auto reconnect issue. So hang in there and take it easy on Bill as he fixes the JTV chat server issue. It's not his fault Crapstats goes down!

I've figured out the stability issue with Crapstats and he seems to be running fine the last few days. I still have a few more things I'm going to recode to make him more stable.

Also, I am almost done coding the new command purchase system. You'll be able to purchase a command specific to one channel or all channels, AND, it will be automated. Meaning once your payment goes through, it will automatically setup the command you just purchased so you can use it immediately. The current method is you buy a command and I manually set it up. Pain for me and you. So with this new system, everyone will be happy. The estimated time from purchase to when the command will go live on Crapstats is within ten minutes.

Anyway, that new system will be in place by the end of the week.

Also, I am in need of money for Crapstats. As some of you know, I don't get paid to run Crapstats, I am only able to run Crapstats based off of the money you all give me. If you scroll down, on the left menu, you'll see a ChipIn box. If you can, ChipIn some money for Crapstats! It would be very much appreciated!

I am in the process of developing a voting system within Crapstats that will allow users to vote !thumbsup or !thumbsdown in any channel. You can already do this, however, a page ranking the channels is not available yet, but will be.

I have launched the new Crapstats v2.5 as well as the Channel Stats beta! type !stats in any channel on Justin.tv to view the stats. I have also fixed the !remove command and !topic command. Enjoy!

I have released an update on Crapstats that now logs all the data required to generate full channel stats for each channel on JTV that has stats logging enabled.

To enable stats logging, type !dostats in your channel. Tomorrow, you will be able to access the new channel stats pages by typing !stats, just like you used to with the old channel stats.

Another update to Crapstats has been released in preparation of the channel stats coming back. By default, Crapstats will NOT generate channel stats for your channel, if you would like to turn on stats generation of your channel, type !dostats to turn it on or off.

While the stats pages themselves aren't available yet, you can start logging data for you channel now to see the data when the stats pages become available.

... aren't here yet, but, they are on the way. Right now, Crapstats is logging chat data to the database in preperation of the return of channel stats. Although, old channel stats data is gone, since it is not compatible with the new Crapstats setup.

The new channel stats will have everything you loved about the old stats, plus some new things I think you all will like.

Also, I've added some new commands. Don't complain about them not being on the Commands list yet, you guys are lucky to have a list. period. haha. Those of you that know me, know that I like commands to be a mystery because it's more fun to discover a new command and be like "yeah, I found that", than it is to look it up on a list and use it.

At the moment, I'm currently working to get the new itsmycrap.com finished and available to everyone. So that means while I work on itsmycrap, Crapstats development is being put on hold for a bit. But don't worry, Crapstats is not forgotten, the next Crapstats release will contain more commands that you've wanted and if all goes as planned, stats will be back, too!

I have just finished a new tool for Justin.tv channel owners: Channel Notices. Not sure what that is? It's a tool that will make Crapstats shows who enters and leaves, for those of us that use the site chat (which a lot of us do), this is a cool little tool, a requested one at that. So, if you're a broadcaster and would like these notices turned on, simply type !notice in your chat and that will toggle Channel Notices on or off.

Yes, Crapstats is coming to a cellphone near you. I have begun work on Crapstats SMS, which will allow you to send a TXT message to Crapstats with a command and get a response back. Not only that, but you will eventually be able to send a message directly to itsmycrap members, send crap updates for everyone to see and even post quick blog entries to your itsmycrap profile.

Crapstats SMS is still in beta while I work out the bugs, but it will be public by March 2008, for everyone to use. I'm excited about this new area Crapstats is going in and I hope you are too.
